It was the Koa Pete show in the second half. The sensational freshman got up to 20 points and 7 rebounds, as Arizona kept dominating on the glass in the second half. The Wildcats took full advantage of their second chance opportunities, and Purdue struggled to find answers – or offensive firepower.
After an offensive foul on Oscar Cluff with 5:17 left to play, it was 68-55 Arizona. It never got better for the Boilermakers from there.The final score was 79-64 as Arizona rolled once they finally got over the hump with a combination of physicality and strong interior play. With the Wildcats closing it out, they've made their first FInal Four since 2001, when they lost to Duke in the National Championship. Gilbert Arenas, Loren Woods, Richard Jefferson and Luke Walton were all on that Arizona squad. 'There's a good-looking guy with white hair looking down on us who's happy,' Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd said following the game to a chorus of 'Lute' chants, in honor of long-time Wildcats coach Lute Olson , who passed in 2020.
