Roku usually takes 30% of a content provider's advertising space, but that was a non-starter for Peacock,Earlier on Friday, a deal was on the verge of falling apart when NBCUniversal threatened to pull all its apps from Roku if an agreement couldn’t be reached. The terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but Roku said the agreement “includes adding NBC content to The Roku Channel and a meaningful partnership around advertising.”
In a statement, NBCUniversal said it is “pleased Roku recognizes the value in making NBCUniversal’s incredible family of apps and programming, including Peacock, available to all of their users across the country.”As more streaming services crop up, disputes with major streaming platforms such as Apple, Roku and Amazon are becoming increasingly common, echoing carriage disputes between networks and cable companies.
