The second tornado to be confirmed as part of Tuesday's storm touched down in Avon Lake and moved to Rocky River.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The National Weather Service has confirmed that a second tornado was part of Tuesday’s vicious storm that caused extensive damage and knocked out power out to hundreds of thousands of residents across Northeast Ohio.
That most recent of the two tornadoes to be identified touched down in Avon Lake at 3:45 p.m. and traveled to Rocky River, National Weather Service meteorologist Brian Mitchell said. The twister lasted for about 11 minutes.had touched down in Valley View, making its way to Bedford. Mitchell said further analysis shows that the tornado actually touched down in Brook Park at 3:59 p.m. before making its way to Valley View and then to Bedford, where it was done at 4:24 p.m.
The wicked wind and torrential rain pummeled Greater Cleveland Tuesday afternoon. A wind gust of 86 miles per hour was measured east of Burke Lakefront Airport. As a result, FirstEnergy is responding to thousands of damage locations in its service area.
