Oskar Smieszek, 23, of South Amboy, has been charged with attempted impairing the morals of a child, attempting to show obscene material to a child, manufacturing an unlicensed firearm with a 3-D printer, known as a “ghost gun,” and multiple other weapons offenses, theIn April of last year, Smieszek had a conversation online with an undercover officer posing as an underaged girl, authorities said.
Smieszek eventually sent the person sexual messages and proposed meeting in person for sex, the state alleged. A search warrant was executed at his home on Feb. 6, where detectives recovered images taken at the residence as well as two “ghost guns” and seven firearm magazines, officials said. Three of the magazines had 30-round capacities, and three had 20-round capacities. His electronic devices were also seized for further review. A ghost gun, or privately made firearm, is a gun created using a kit or 3-D printer. These weapons have no serial number and are not traceable,“The charges announced today reflect two major areas of enforcement of our office – protecting children from sexual predators and protecting everyone from gun violence,” Acting Attorney General Jennifer Davenport said. The state did not say when Smieszek was charged or whether he is in custody. It was unknown on Monday afternoon if he had an attorney.
