N.J. man charged in gunpoint robbery of New York Jets player

Noah Shaffer, 26, of Paterson, was charged last month with two counts each of first-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, the When he was charged on Jan. 15, Shaffer was in custody at Bergen County Jail on charges for an unrelated criminal case.

On Monday, he was ordered to remain in the same jail to face the Morris County charges. The football player and a group of friends returned from New York City on the morning of Feb. 15, 2025, when they were approached by a group of assailants in Morristown. After pulling into the driveway of a Morristown home, an SUV blocked them in, authorities said. Four masked suspects then got out of the vehicle and pointed guns at the victims, officials said. They eventually stole a wallet, a watch and cash before getting back in the SUV and fleeing the scene, prosecutors said.Shaffer was identified as a suspect through electronic evidence, officials said. The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said it will not release the name of the football player who was victimized. No other arrests have been made. Investigators are asking anyone with tips to call the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit at 973-285-6200.
