Of course, this does not make every Saskatchewan farmer rich; and certainly, not everyone living in rural Saskatchewan is rich. There are large numbers of fixed-income seniors and First Nations people — many of whom remain on reserves or in villages and towns because of their relative affordability.

A big reason for that is farming. Saskatchewan’s average annual farm income in 2019 was $170,052 — second in the country only to Alberta farmers, who earned an average $172,721 that year.w in Regina — a celebration of innovation and success for an industry that remains critical to Saskatchewan’s economic well-being.Article content

The problem, however, is that this notion of rural prosperity seems a direct contrast to less pleasant realities happening in the province and the city right now.
