PETALING JAYA: Three teenage boys, two of them disabled and believed to be victims of domestic abuse, were rescued last night at Simpang Empat, Perlis.
Their mother has been arrested for alleged abuse. Police said the boys looked fatigued when they were found, two of them with their legs chained together.They were found next to a bridge along Jalan Kampung Tambun Tulang by a member of the public around midnight. Kangar district police chief Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusof told Berita Harian that the two chained boys were identified as persons with disabilities . The other victim was not chained and did not have an OKU card.
Police have arrested the 46-year-old mother of the boys and a 31-year-old man, who is not related to them, to assist in their investigations. According to Yusharifuddin, the mother admitted to chaining the children’s legs because their behaviour was bad and they were hard to control. He said both the suspects had been remanded for seven days starting today. Investigations will be carried out under Section 31 of the Child Act 2001.
