A Winter Storm Warning was issued late Thursday night with heavy snow expected in areas such as Heber City, Huntsville and Park City. Three storms will move through Utah over the next week. Some of these storms will finally bring some winter weather to the state.
This will include some snow accumulation in the valleys, as well as mountain snow accumulation that will be measured in feet! Here's what you can expect each day...Skies will be mostly cloudy around the state today, and winds will really pick up in the afternoon and evening hours. By lunchtime, sustained winds across western Utah will be in the 15-25 mph range with some isolated gusts over 45 mph. A Wind Advisory has been issued for much of southern and western Utah from 11 am today through 5 am tomorrow. This Wind Advisory includes the Salt Lake and Tooele Valleys but does not include the rest of the Wasatch Front. Temperatures will be very mild today with highs approaching 60 degrees in northern Utah and in the mid-60s down south.Storm No. 1 begins to approach Utah this evening. Southwestern Utah will start to get a few rain and snow showers by early evening. These rain and snow showers will shift northeastward through the evening hours and could reach the Wasatch Front by late evening. These rain and snow showers will then continue on-and-off through the overnight hours. Little to no accumulation is expected. Overnight lows will drop into the upper-30s in northern Utah and low-40s down south.Rain and snow showers are expected on-and-off throughout the day Tuesday. Little to no accumulation is expected. Winds will remain gusty statewide. High temperatures will reach into the upper-40s up north and near 50 down south.Storm No. 2 will move into the region by early Wednesday. This is a colder storm, and it will bring snow levels down to the valley floors. The only exception to this is the lowest valleys near the Arizona border where the precipitation will continue to fall as rain. Most valleys around the state will pick up 1-4" of snow throughout the day. Winds will be gusty as well, resulting in some blowing & drifting of snow. High temperatures in northern Utah will top out around 40 degrees, while southern Utah approaches 50 degrees.A few flurries may linger into Thursday morning, but they should wrap up early in the day. The remainder of the day will be mostly cloudy and cold. Highs in northern Utah will reach into the upper-30s. Southern Utah will top out in the upper-40s.Storm No. 3 will move through the region on this day. The core of this storm currently looks like it will stay well to the north of Utah, however its cold front will brush through Utah. This will bring some scattered light snow showers to northern and central Utah to end the workweek, while far southern Utah just gets a few scattered rain showers. Highs in northern Utah will only get into the mid-30s, and southern Utah will top out near 50.The entire state will dry out in time for the weekend. Skies will be partly cloudy on both Saturday & Sunday. Northern Utah's highs will be in the 40s, and southern Utah will top out in the 50s.The exact timing, track, and intensity of each of these storms may change as they get closer to Utah.
