The remains, including a head, leg and arms, were discovered in Southards Pond Park, which is near an elementary school in Babylon Village, roughly 30 miles east of Manhattan on Suffolk County's South Shore.
AMITYVILLE, N.Y. -- Multiple people were arrested in connection with the discovery of human remains in Babylon Village on Long Island, sources told CBS New York on Tuesday. It comes authorities found body parts in two more locations. Suffolk Police say they know who they belong to: A 59-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man who shared an address in Yonkers. Their names are being withheld until the family is notified. The body parts were dumped in locations from Babylon to Bethpage.
They were first found on the perimeter of Babylon Village's Southards Pond Park. Officials said schoolchildren made the initial discovery. A cadaver dog turned up more, including a severed head, legs, an arm of a female victim, the tattooed arms of a male victim, fingertips removed. 'It's very scary. Hits close to home,' Nicole Bonisgnore said when the remains were first discovered. 'For a child or an adult to find body parts, it's very disturbing.
