A Grand Prairie officer was injured Tuesday afternoon after his vehicle was struck by a car that ran a red light onThe crash occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. on the southbound service road of the highway near New York Avenue, said Mark Beseda, a spokesman for Grand Prairie police. The driver faces a citation for the traffic violation.
Impairment and alcohol have been ruled out as factors in the crash, Beseda said.The officer sustained minor injuries when their airbag deployed, Beseda said. The motorist who ran the red light, who has not been identified, had “no apparent injuries,” but was taken to a medical facility “as a precaution,” he added.. Hojun Choi covers breaking news.
