A bill in the Alabama Legislature would notify parents if their child gets a traffic citation.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Parents with teen drivers know the worry they feel when their children get behind the wheel. The bill is inspired by a tragic situation that claimed two lives.
Vafeas posted about it on Facebook. Her high school classmate, state Rep. Jamie Kiel, saw the post and reached out, and the idea for a new law began.The lawmaker says it’s a parental rights bill. Vafeas says she wishes she would have been notified that T.J. got three tickets. She and Kiel say they hope this bill saves lives.
