It appears that areas situated south of Interstate 88 will have a higher probability of experiencing a thin layer of ice, while regions to the north are more likely to encounter sleet and snow. Additionally, areas south of Interstate 80 stand the best chance of experiencing temperatures above freezing for a couple of hours during Saturday afternoon. Regardless of the specific type of precipitation, Saturday's weather system, while not a major winter storm, warrants caution during both driving and walking, particularly in the morning and afternoon. It's crucial to remember that temperatures will persist below freezing until Sunday, meaning any untreated icy surfaces will remain hazardous. The area may at least witness some sunshine on Sunday, which can sometimes facilitate ice melt even when the air temperature remains below freezing.
