Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed has announced that his chief of staff, Chip Hill, will leave his position at the end of September.

Hill has worked on both of Reed’s election campaigns and has been chief of staff since 2020. Chief Operating Officer Jerime Reid will take over as acting chief staff on Oct. 1.. In a news release,. Reed said, “Chip Hill’s leadership as Chief of Staff has been instrumental in guiding us through some of our most challenging times. I am excited for him and his family as he embarks on this new chapter in the private sector.”
Hill also gave a statement: “It has been an honor to serve my hometown for the last 5 and a half years as Chief of Staff. I want to thank Mayor Reed for trusting me with this office. The Mayor and I have been working together since 2008 and we had no way of knowing the challenges that awaited us at the outset of his historic journey as Montgomery’s first black Mayor. I’m proud that Montgomery overcame the challenges of the pandemic by working together.
