A Montgomery man who was arrested in 2019 for the brutal beating death of his own grandmother was convicted Thursday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - by a jury of his peers, according to Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey.for the June 15, 2019 death of Evelyn Perryman, whom court documents state was killed after being struck in the face with a metal object. Police responded to the 3900 block of Gateway Court on a welfare check that day where they found the victim’s body.
Perryman is said to have broken into the home through a bedroom window before assaulting the victim. He was arrested and charged with capital murder during the course of a robbery.Court documents showed Evelyn Perryman had filed an eviction notice against him in April 2018, stating that he had failed to pay rent, would not work and was very disrespectful. He was given seven days to pay back rent or the rental agreement was to be terminated, documents showed.
