Montgomery Habitat for Humanity held a special ceremony to remember former President Jimmy Carter.
) - The late former President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn Carter, were active with Habitat for Humanity for decade. The couple helped build many homes for those who need a helping hand.A wall with a door was lifted to signify Carter’s impact on new beginnings for families across the world.
“His hip messed up, so he was kind of limping, he had a cane. He said, ‘I promised them in Indiana, I promised them I would be here,’ so he came to the work site, and you saw him with the staple gun, with the power tools. He said, ‘No, I’m going to build,’” said Montgomery Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Susan Johnson.
“It was a blessing having a - I’ll call it a back seat - but up close and personal seat to the life and legacy and commitment to humanitarian causes, including Habitat,” she said.
