Julia Chaplin celebrated her latest book, The Boho Manifesto, with a dinner in the sand at The Surf Lodge.
. The evening kicked off with a performance by Caroline Vreeland, who crooned her latest singles along with a soulful rendition of thehit, “You’re the One That I Want.” If Vreeland eased the crowd as they sipped rosé in the sun, the next act did quite the opposite. The ever-upbeat pop duo Matt and Kim egged partygoers to crowd surf as they bopped to their punchy hits.
A select crowd then broke away from the party, slipping around the corner from The Surf Lodge’s dock to a patch of sand that hosted a dinner table with all the hallmarks of boho. Turkish towels for blankets sat at each seat , quaint prairie-esque floral arrangements lined the table, and illustrated menus provided a preview of what was to come—a four-course meal catered by ABCV.
“There was nowhere else I could have hosted this dinner,” said Chaplin to her guests, an eclectic bunch that included Waris Ahluwalia, Jayma Cardoso, Rachelle Hruska MacPherson, andand her daughter, Kit Keenan. And she was right—the scene couldn’t have been more perfect. Behind the table was a white-picket fence splashed with a mural by Carlito . Carlito also provided the illustrations for the book.
