Although packaging has become a major selling point for those looking to show off their shelfies, vanity isn't the focus for Burke when it comes to choosing products. "As a blind person, it's not necessarily about what [a product] looks like because I can't see it," she says.
"I really focus on texture: how it feels in my fingers, how it feels on my skin, and how it feels and wears throughout the day." Burke will do check-ins throughout the day — touching her forehead to see if it's oily or inspecting her lashes for flaking — and listen to feedback from friends to see if a product is worth keeping in her rotation.
