Utah LB Mohamoud Diabate (MDiabate11) is ready to prove all the doubters wrong. Diabate talked with JustinM_NFL about his decision to transfer from Florida to Utah, how he'll respond to his combine snub, his Shrine Bowl experience, and more. NFLDraft

was excellent in 2022, recording career-highs in tackles for loss and sacks while thriving in Kyle Whittingham’s aggressive defense. A former transfer from Florida, Diabate is a rangy and athletic linebacker that can cover sideline-to-sideline.

JM: You recorded career-highs in tackles for loss and sacks this season. You had way more success attacking backfields. What changed for you in 2022? What led to those numbers? I also didn’t start playing off-ball linebacker until 2020. There was an acclimation period involved. Things really started coming together for me in 2022. I was placed in an ideal scheme that allowed me to attack. The numbers speak for themselves.

In my case, it doesn’t matter where I’m lined up. I can either blitz from that position or I can cover the man in front of me. My abilities allow defenses to disguise things pre-snap. I played like four different positions at Florida. I have the knowledge to move around and learn different positions. At Florida, I started at MIKE linebacker, but I also played some WILL and SAM linebacker. If somebody went down with an injury, I was able to move around and fill that void.

I felt like Utah was the right place for me. They understand how to develop players while bringing along NFL talents. They really teach you how to play football. They prepared me for the next level. I was lucky to be a part of that. I wanted to have another tough year before going to the NFL. I’ve been battle tested. Those lessons I learned will allow me to become a great football player.
