The Excelsior Band of Mobile is among the 2022 National Heritage Fellowship honorees announced Tuesday by the National Endowment for the Arts.
The NEA describes the fellowship program, now in its 40th year, as “our nation’s highest honor in the folk and traditional arts.” According to the NEA, each fellowship includes a $25,000 award. The recipients also will be featured in a film that will premiere in November 2022 on Eva Enciñias, a flamenco artist from Albuquerque, N.M., who founded the National Institute of Flamenco.
