) - A federal judge in Mobile this week sentenced a Texas man to more than seven years in prison for his role in an interstate drug trafficking conspiracy involving multiple defendants.
U.S. District Court Judge Callie V.S. Grande handed Daniel Castillo-Garcia an 87-month prison term on Wednesday. According to court documents, Castillo-Garcia was involved with five other people to transport and distribute methamphetamine from Texas to Lafayette, La., and Mobile County. Authorities said Castillo-Garcia served as a drug courier in the organization.
The Mobile Police Department Narcotics Unit conducted a traffic stop on an SUV driven by Castillo-Garcia on Dec. 7, 2020. Investigators seized about 491 grams of crystal meth. Court documents revealed that the seizure occurred after a recorded phone call was made from a confidential informant to another member of the conspiracy ordering a pound of meth and the dealer stating he would send his courier to Mobile to deliver the drugs.Alabama primary election results
