MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile Airport Authority announced Tuesday that Executive Director Andy Wilson will step down after helping guide the agency through a critical phase of its new terminal project. Wilson, who joined the authority in October 2024, brought construction and operational experience at a time when the Brookley terminal project required both, Chairman Sandy Stimpson said.

He credited Wilson with helping return the project to budget and positioning it for success. “Andy has made the personal decision to step down as executive director, and we respect and fully support that choice,” Stimpson said. “We wish him nothing but the best as he devotes more time to his family in Florida.” Wilson’s aviation expertise and relationships with federal partners were also key to progress on the Mobile International Airport terminal, Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis said. The project is expected to reach substantial completion this fall. The authority’s board is scheduled to meet Wednesday at 3 p.m. to appoint an acting executive director. Officials said leadership is in place to ensure operations and construction continue without interruption.A chaotic series of events unfolded in Mobile on Plover Street early Sunday morning, beginning with reports of gunfire and ending with firefighters helping saveWilliam “BJ” Squires pleaded guilty Monday in Mobile County Circuit Court to second-degree rape in a case that had been set for trial, according to a court ordeAccording to ALEA, a single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5:27 p.m. Saturday, March 21, has claimed two lives.
