Mobile, Alabama is implementing new security measures for the 2025 Mardi Gras season, including mobile vehicle barriers and portable bollards, in response to the New Year's Day attack in New Orleans. The city plans to deploy five mobile barriers and 18 portable bollards throughout downtown Mobile ahead of the festive season.
Mobile police demonstrate a mobile vehicle barrier the city received on loan from the City of Tuscaloosa. The city will have five more of these devices placed on roads throughout downtown Mobile during the 2025 Mardi Gras season. In addition, the city recently purchased 18 TB100 portable bollards that will arrive from California ahead of the Mardi Gras season.
