Andrew Caley breaks down Thursday's MLB betting slate and offers his best MLB player props, including Jonathan Aranda and Tyler Soderstrom. My favorites today include another tough day at the dish for Tyler O’Neill, and a couple of fades for a pair of once-elite starting pitchers.

. They sit in last place in the American League East with a record of 9-14 heading into tonight’s matchup with the Washington Nationals. This slow start can generally be attributed to the pitching staff, which has surrendered an MLB-worst 129 runs. So, what happens when the bats go silent?. One of the O’s big offseason acquisitions, O’Neill, got off to a great start, but he’s hit one hell of a slump. O’Neill has just three hits and 15 strikeouts over his last 10 games. He has a .083 batting average and a .337 OPS during that period. He also ranks in the 18th percentile in strikeout rate.on the mound for the Nationals tonight. Gore is having a breakout season, pitching to a 3.04 expected ERA and limiting opponents to a .214 expected batting average. He is also racking up a ton of punchouts. The left-hander's K-rate of 37.8% ranks in the 97th percentile among MLB pitchers.first baseman going 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored in a 5-2 win over the Texas Rangers. Soderstrom has been a menace at the plate. The 23-year-old enters tonight with a .283 batting average and a .958 OPS while being tied for the lead in home runs with nine. He’s also scored and driven in 19 runs this season. deGrom has been solid so far this season with a 3.32 ERA, but his stuff just isn’t the same as it used to be. He’s struck out just 20 batters in 21 2/3 innings of work. He’s looked great in starts against the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox, but shay against the Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays. So, consistency has been an issue, and left-handed batters have done most of the damage, getting to him for a .250 batting average and a .976 OPS, giving Soderstrom the splits advantage. Soderstrom has a Hits, Runs, and RBIs prop sitting at 1.5 with the Over priced at +130. I think we are getting that number because of Jacob deGrom’s name, and this should be closer to even money. After some up-and-down seasons, the 26-year-old first baseman is locked in at the dish. Aranda enters tonight’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks hitting .338 with a 1.089 OPS, four home runs, and 13 RBIs. Burnes’ tenure with Arizona has not gotten off to a great start. He enters this game with a 4.99 expected ERA and a .276 opponent expected batting average. Both rank in the 26th percentile or worse. The problem seems to be his cut fastball. It’s his primary pitch, but it has seen a dip in velocity, and opponents are crushing it for a .30x xBA and a .554 xSLG. Aranda has a .338 xBA and a.734 xSLG vs. fastballs this season and is hitting .382 with a 1.199 OPS against right-handed pitching this season. He also has 12 RBIs over his last 15 games, driving in at least one seven times. Getting a price tag of +210 for Aranda to drive in a run tonight looks like a great value.: Our team of experts has thoroughly researched and handpicked each product that appears on our website. When his dreams of becoming the next Steve Nash died, all Andrew “Taco” Caley wanted to do was write about sports, something he’s been doing at Covers for more than a decade. A Journalism School grad from Holland College in Charlottetown, PEI, Andrew previously worked at The Chronicle Herald and Star Metro, but knew in his heart that his future lay in sports. He began at Covers as a news editor and has now done everything under the sun when it comes to content. His work has been seen on TSN, Sportsnet, VSiN, and CBS. These days Andrew’s betting expertise is focused on his favorite teams – the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Raptors. He’s also an avid college football fan and bettor. He can’t be friends with you if you don’t appreciate a Service Academy Under. You can also call him Covers’ Sixth Man, as he regularly steps up to guest host Before You Bet and our MLB and NCAAF release shows. The sportsbook where he does the bulk of his betting is bet365 thanks to its numerous prop betting options and competitive odds. His best advice? Find the balance between the numbers and what you see on the playing field. Then find the best price using multiple books. And don’t ask him where the nickname Taco comes from.
