The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has stated that it maintains a 'cordial' relationship with the African National Congress (ANC)-led coalition government in Gauteng, despite widespread anti-ANC sentiment among its supporters and officials. The MK Party's provincial spokesperson explained that their organization is not opposed to the current government led by Panyaza Lesufi, as it does not include the Democratic Alliance (DA). The MK Party has supported the ANC on various legislative issues, including the provincial budgets.
JOHANNESBURG - The uMkhonto weSizwe Party says it has a"cordial" relationship with the African National Congress -led coalition government in Gauteng since it does not include the Democratic Alliance .The sentiment among MK Party supporters and officials at the rally has been largely anti-ANC and anti-Government of National Unity .MK Party provincial spokesperson, Bafana Mahlabe, said the organisation was not opposed to Panyaza Lesufi’s government.
"Here in Gauteng, there is a minority government, in which we are not part of it as such, but we have a very cordial relationship because it’s not the classical GNU arrangement that we know, which has got the Democratic Alliance in it." The MK Party caucus in the Gauteng Legislature has voted with the ANC on a number of items, most notably the provincial budgets.
