A Mississippi state senator has proposed a bill that would make it unlawful for a man to engage in sexual acts without the intent to fertilize an embryo. The bill, inspired by recent anti-abortion legislation, has sparked debate about the gender-lopsidedness of such laws. Meanwhile, other news stories highlight a bounty hunting program targeting undocumented migrants in Mississippi, a man's arrest for trespassing at Mar-a-Lago, and a former Australian tennis player's divorce announcement.
A freshman Mississippi state senator proposed a bill that would make it unlawful for “a person to discharge genetic material without the intent to fertilize an embryo.” Mississippi state Sen. Bradford Blackmon on Monday filed the bill, which would make it unlawful for “a person to discharge genetic material without the intent to fertilize an embryo,” according to news station WLBT.
Blackmon said the bill was inspired by the influx of legislative bills in recent years targeting women’s reproductive rights. “All across the country, especially here in Mississippi, the vast majority of bills relating to contraception and/or abortion focus on the woman’s role when men are fifty percent of the equation,” he said. The bill proposes fines ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. It is unlikely to pass in the Republican-dominated legislature in Mississippi, which is one of 12 states that have total or near total abortion bans. State Democrats have introduced other similar bills over the last decade to draw attention to the gender-lopsidedness of anti-abortion laws in the state.Meanwhile, a former Australian tennis player announced that she is getting a divorce from her husband, just days after she launched a profile on the adult content site OnlyFans. The news follows recent reports of a proposed bounty hunting program targeting undocumented migrants in Mississippi. Republican State Rep. Justin Keen from DeSoto County proposed the bill that would create the “Mississippi Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program” which is aimed at “accelerating deportation efforts in line with the Administration’s immigration priorities.” A cash reward would go to registered bounty hunters “for each successful deportation they help facilitate,” the local district attorney’s office said in a release. “When President Trump took office this week, he immediately recognized the emergency at our borders…this legislation builds upon that foundation, empowering local leaders and communities to support federal efforts in protecting our citizens,” DeSoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton said in the release. Keen echoed the sentiment, saying Trump’s “administration has made it clear that deporting illegal immigrants is a priority, and we are proud to do our part here in Mississippi to help support his agenda and protect our citizens.”And in Florida, a man who trespassed on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate earlier this week has been charged with trespassing with the intent to commit an offense. Citing a police affidavit, reports that Bijan Arceo, 32, was detained by Secret Service agents at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Palm Beach police, who swiftly arrived at the scene for assistance, add that Arceo was able to access the estate from South Ocean Boulevard just by its north service gate. “While the incident had no impact on our protective operations, we take these matters extremely seriously,” the Secret Service told Fox News Digital in a statement. “This arrest is being handled at the local level and we remain thankful to the Town of Palm Beach Police Department for their quick response and partnership.” Jail records indicate that Arceo is currently in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail on a $20,000 bond
