ORINDA — Bennett Destino, if you squinted hard enough and flashed back to another era, bore a resemblance to a West Coast version of former Dallas Cowboys star Emmitt Smith in Miramonte’s 21-10 home victory over Skyline.

While their first drive did not produce points, they ran off almost eight minutes. The Titans totaled 37 carries and ran for around 140 yards, with Johnson and Nalls each having around 60. It was the perfect ‘defense’ against Miramonte’s explosive spread attack.
However, in the three drives Miramonte got in that first half, they showed why such a strategy was essential. After a first-quarter drive was ended with a fumble, Duncan got the Mats moving again on try number two. He and halfback Destino carved up the Titans behind massive linemen like Luke Davis.
