Several other Fed banks say they're encouraging, but not requiring, vaccines.

Employees at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis have until the end of August to get vaccinated against COVID-19 if they want to keep their job, Minneapolis Fed president Neel Kashkari announced Wednesday.

There’s something lost with fully remote work, he said. “Simply put, while we will enjoy more flexibility in where we work going forward, we are not going to be a fully remote institution.” Over 82% of the Minneapolis Fed’s more than 1,100-person staff have already been fully vaccinated, according to Kashkari. “Most of the remaining 18 percent have not told us their vaccination plans, and a small percentage have indicated they do not plan to get vaccinated.”

In the wake of Kashkari’s announcement, spokespeople for a number of the other 11 Federal Reserve banks — Cleveland, Kansas City, Dallas, Boston and St. Louis — told MarketWatch that they were encouraging workers to get vaccinated and would continue to watch the guidance from public health officials.
