Mini Makro plan can work - if the prices are right, analysts say
Walmart -owned Massmart's pilot project to test four small-format Makro stores in malls may just pay off, if it can get its pricing and product mix right, analysts say.
This follows an exclusive News24 report on Wednesday on Massmart's plan, which aims to reinvigorate the Makro brand, boost its omni-channel retail ambitions and provide more opportunities to tap into strong consumer demand for wholesale retail. Massmart has indicated if the four pilot stores, which will be located on the sites of existing Game stores, are successful, it will plan an aggressive rollout of the small-format stores. The location of the stores in malls is also aimed at providing more convenience for both its business-to-business customers and individual shoppers. South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
