Vrabel, a desirable coaching candidate, spent eight of his 14 seasons as a professional athlete in New England, where he won three Super Bowl championships and was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2023. Mike Vrabel might face stiff competition from Ben Johnson, who is scheduled for an interview. It's rumored that Vrabel's interview with the Jets , which occurred before Mayo's dismissal, aimed to put pressure on the Patriots to make a decision regarding their head coaching vacancy.
Vrabel began his head coaching journey with the Titans in 2018, achieving four consecutive winning seasons, culminating in a 12-5 2021 record that earned him AP Coach of the Year. However, those successful years in Tennessee were short-lived, and after two seasons below .500, Vrabel was released after 2023. 'I'd say, first off, if they were to ask me who's the smartest player I ever played with, I'd say it was Mike Vrabel, and it wasn't even close,' said Johnson. The Patriots have been actively searching for a new head coach and have already interviewed Pep Hamilton and Byron Leftwich.
