Mohd Lazim has spent more than 30 years of his life making jong and the version he makes can be traced back to the 19th century. “To be exact, jong can only be found in two locations in Johor, which is at Tanjung Piai in Pontian and Pulau Tanjung Surat in Kota Tinggi,” he added. “I have set up a workshop on the island and am assisted by my relatives as well as some youths in the village,” he said.
