Changes to a noise control ordinance received approval at Middleburg Heights City Council’s July 22 special meeting.

This City Architecture rendering of a redeveloped Southland District in Middleburg Heights shows a Main Street running throughout the property. MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio – the purchase of the Brixmor property,”“As you know, currently in the city of Middleburg Heights we don’t have a noise ordinance specifically for a mixed-use district.”revitalizing the former Southland Shopping Center area at W. 130th St. and Smith Road.

Now called the Southland District, plans are to have new retail, dining and commercial establishments, as well as new streetscaping and residential units. Improved pedestrian and bicycle access will be implemented as well. Noise may not exceed 55 decibels emitted from a residential district, according to the measure. For commercial, industrial and planned mixed-use districts, the maximum is 60 decibels. Castelli mentioned off-hours deliveries that can occur in a retail district, necessitating minor adjustments to the ordinance.

“This ordinance does not have any impact on any of our residentially zoned districts in the city, so this is specific to just mixed-used districts,” Castelli emphasized. “And mixed-use districts are only in the Southland area.”If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
