Alex Tannous, 39, was accused of claiming connections to royalty to defraud investors of money that he used to fund a lavish lifestyle
A man who claimed to be a Middle East ern prince and allegedly touted sterling connections to scam Texas investors seeking to do business overseas has agreed to plead guilty to fraud, according to his attorney. Alex Tannous, 39, plans to plead guilty to wire fraud. The charge stems from allegations that he swindled an Austin man who wanted to run ghost kitchens in the Middle East out of at least $40,000.
Alleged conman who claimed to be a prince hires the 'Dopest Lawyer in Town' A federal grand jury indicted Tannous on Feb. 21 on six counts of wire fraud, alleging a similar pattern of swindles — in which Tannous portrayed himself as a businessman with lucrative connections in the Middle East.
Alleged con man 'prince' hit with new fraud charges in San Antonio 'In reality, Tannous had no such ties, and instead, he used the money given to him by his victims to fund his personal lifestyle and enrich his family members,' the indictment said. The indictment focused on three alleged victims of Tannous, but the charge to which he has agreed to plead guilty relates to only one of them — an Austin resident whom Tannous met through a mutual friend in spring 2021.
