Following a rather iconic meet-cute that involved the backstage of a Rolling Stones concert in Tokyo, Mick Jagger and his longtime girlfriend Melanie Hamrick are officially engaged.
"We've been engaged two or three years," Hamrick said during the interview, which was conducted in French. As for an eventual wedding? "Maybe one day we'll marry, maybe not. We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything,"Jagger and Hamrick have been together for 11 years and share one child together, a 7-year-old son named Deveraux Octavian Basil.
The pair have a 44-year age gap between them . Of their relationship, Hamrick added, "We try to support each other, be there for each other, and make sure everyone is happy. That's all that matters to me and all I strive for.""I mean, I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes," she said at the time. "But are we like, horny teenagers where we’re giving each other… In my mind, it's a promise ring. We'll be immature and call it a promise ring." In keeping with her present day philosophy on marriage, she was just as indifferent toward marriage then as she is now. "I don’t know," she told the publication about eventually tying the knot.
