Michigan's Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) has issued a voluntary recall of multiple THC vape cartridges due to concerns about the presence of Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) oil. MCT oil, while safe for oral consumption, can pose respiratory risks when inhaled. The recall affects BLOOM Classic and BLOOM Live cartridges, as well as Platinum Vape cartridges previously recalled in January.

Michigan authorities have issued a voluntary recall of multiple THC vape cartridges due to the presence of Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) oil, a substance potentially harmful to lung health when inhaled. The recall, announced by the Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA), affects BLOOM Classic and BLOOM Live vape cartridges, which are suspected of containing MCT oil.

A report from affiliate FOX 2 Detroit highlights the concern, noting that MCT oil, while commonly found in oral supplements and natural foods like cheese and yogurt, can cause respiratory issues when vaporized. The recalled vape cartridges encompass a variety of popular strains, including Alien Jack, Blue Dream, Cereal Milk, Champagne Kush, Durban Gelato, Face Off OG, Forbidden Fruit, Green Crack, Jack Herer, Maui Wowie, Pineapple Express, Pineapple Sherbert, Rainbow Runtz, Skywalker, and White Widow. The CRA initiated targeted testing for MCT oil in vapes last fall and is collaborating with dispensaries to retrieve and dispose of affected products. This is not the first instance of MCT oil-related recalls in Michigan's cannabis market. In January, RWB Michigan LLC and the CRA issued a voluntary recall of Platinum Vape brand cartridges due to the same concern. Platinum Vape's recalled flavors included Garlic Cookie, Blazing Blue Cheese, Banana Candy, and Grape Valley Kush. Michigan residents who have purchased BLOOM vapes after September 1st or Platinum vapes after March 4th are urged to inspect their products to ensure they are not part of the recall. Affected products can be returned to the place of purchase or discarded
