The Giants’ own issues, a fumbled snap on a third down, led to a potential field goal that was blocked and turned into a touchdown. It seemed to be a momentum changer from the start. But Jones said the real change was the defense slowing the Giants run game down after the first possession.

“I know early in the game, let’s talk about something to look at,” he said. “I know they gutted us what looked to be pretty good on that first possession. Well, that was something we hadn’t coached or hadn’t prepared for, what they were doing, some of their blocking schemes inside. But the adjustment we made, and that was the key, and we stepped up and stopped that. We didn’t see that again.
