, now that Miami company Mister O1 has made plans to open on Oak Lawn Avenue in Dallas, near Turtle Creek.Chef Renato Viola started Mister O1, a pizzeria, in 2014. Now, it's a franchise opening its first restaurant in Texas in fall 2022.
Its Italian-born founder and master pizza chef, Renato Viola, named the company with an “O1″ because he received an O-1 visa to move to the United States under what the government describes as an “extraordinary ability” in a craft. — that one from the other coast — that picked Dallas for its first-in-Texas stop. National restaurant consultants have said for well over a year that Texas is a hotspot for expanding restaurant concepts because businesses stayed open longer during the pandemic, and with fewer restrictions, than in most other states.
“Texas has been a robust market,” says Robin Gagnon, CEO and co-founder of We Sell Restaurants. Gagnon said in a story about that all eyes are on Texas and Florida for restaurant growth. Mister O1, with its Florida roots and Texas expansion plans, is evidence of that growth.Mister O1, which opened in 2014, is being franchised into Texas by Dallas native John LaBarge.
