It’s the first ownership change since Bread Winners opened in Dallas 28 years ago.
The 28-year-old Dallas restaurant Bread Winners is changing hands. Founders Jim and Cindy Hughes sold the business to Dallas man Josh Bock.Bread Winners Cafe & Bakery, a New Orleans style breakfast and brunch spot that opened on Dallas’ McKinney Avenue in 1994, has been sold to Dallas real estate investor Josh Bock.
Bock’s company Stratega Capital takes ownership of the Hughes’ McKinney Avenue bar, Quarter Bar, as well as the four Bread Winners restaurants — in Uptown, at NorthPark Center, at Lovers Lane and Inwood Road in Dallas, and in Plano — and the catering business. In the merger, Bock also now owns the original Bread Winners building in Uptown.
Director of operations Laura Dominguez will remain in her position as well; Popp says she has been at the company for more than 20 years.“Right now, it’s about keeping things status quo and keeping the leadership team in place,” Popp says. Bock has told him he might eventually want to grow Bread Winners into a nationwide concept.
