177 OFWs have finally come home to Iloilo after 2 months of being stuck in Metro Manila because of the COVID-19 crisis.
ILOILO CITY - Nakauwi na rin sa Iloilo nitong Miyerkoles ang 177 overseas Filipino workers na may dalawang buwang natengga sa Metro Manila dahil sa krisis dulot ng coronavirus disease 2019 .Agad silang isinakay sa mga shuttle bus at ambulansya, at inihatid sa iba't ibang quarantine facilities sa lungsod.
Ang mga OFW na residente ng lungsod ay dinala sa Jubilee Hall ng Department of Education, habang ang mga taga-probinsya ng Iloilo ay dinala naman sa mga piling hotel sa siyudad. "May accommodation na sila. Nakahanda na rin ang testing, pati ang pagsundo. So I think there will be no problem anymore," pahayag ni Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr.
Kaagad namang sinimulan ng Department of Health ang COVID-19 testing sa mga OFWs na ginawa sa quarantine facilities."Sabi ng DOH, may 14-day quarantine period talaga sila dahil 'yan ang gusto ng Department of Health. And we don't have a problem with that," sabi ni Defensor.Sa 177 na OFW's, 40 ang taga-lloilo City, 77 ang taga-Iloilo province, 12 ang taga-Capiz, 35 ang taga-Aklan, 9 ang taga-Antique at 4 ang taga-Guimaras.
