Mexico’s Foreign Ministry announced appointments to several consulates abroad, including the L.A. move for Carlos González Gutiérrez.

Mexico’s consul general in San Diego, Carlos González Gutiérrez, has been nominated to lead the Mexican consulate in Los Angeles, the Mexican Foreign Ministry announced. The appointment has yet to be ratified by the Mexican Senate.

“Here we discovered the great happiness that comes from living with one foot on one side of the border and one foot on the other ... and from being able to serve in the region that has always been the model of cooperation and integration between Mexico and the United States,” said González Gutiérrez after an event held in Tijuana.

During a visit to Tijuana Saturday, Ebrard said that the new appointments were in keeping with the practice of changing the leadership of Mexican consulates every four years.
