Will the New York Mets come to terms on a new deal with superstar slugger Pete Alonso this offseason?

While the Mets will be busy in general, the biggest question mark swirling around the club certainly is the future of star first baseman Pete Alonso. Rumors will continue to swirl in either direction until Alonso either signs an extension with New York or is traded elsewhere.

"However, the Mets and owner Steve Cohen do have an excellent working relationship, with Boras and the Mets agreeing to three big free-agent deals in recent years: the three-year, $130 million Max Scherzer contract, the eight-year, $162 million Brandon Nimmo contract and a 12-year, $315 million deal for Carlos Correa that was eventually abandoned when an issue came up in the physical."

While it's unclear what will happen, the fact that Cohen and Boras seemingly have a solid relationship could be a positive sign. At the end of the day, if the Mets don't offer Alonso a deal worth signing, nothing will happen. Alonso is one of the best young players in baseball and ultimately will be paid like it.
