The New York Mets need to add a starting pitcher as much as anything right now. Luckily for them, there are plenty of options to choose from in free agency. There are even some potential trade candidates if the Mets want to get uber-aggressive.FanSided's Michael Brakebill recently projected the Mets to add to their rotation in the most obvious way possible. Brakebill predicted the Mets would re-sign free agent Sean Manaea after a breakout 2024 campaign.
They landed Clay Holmes, intending to put him in the rotation, but they need someone already used to throwing well over 100 innings in a season,' Brakebill wrote. 'Manaea has reached free agency after spending 2024 in New York, and there should be no reason to think they can't re-up on a contract. Manaea recorded a 3.47 ERA over 182 innings. It was the best showing of his career, and the Mets need more production from him moving forward.
