He isn't the only legendary performer unhappy about the snub.
This June 26, 2015 file photo shows Motorhead bassist Lemmy Kilmister performing on the Pyramid stage during Glastonbury Music Festival at Worthy Farm, Glastonbury, England. Metallica frontman James Hetfield was a friend of Lemmy Kilmister, and if you don’t believe it just check out his latest tattoo. Hetfield recently had an ace of spades drawn onto his middle finger, and the ink used to make the tattoo contains some of Kilmister’s ashes.
But his devotion to his friend doesn’t stop there. Hetfield has also been pushing for Kilmister, the frontman for Motorhead, to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That has yet to happen, and Hetfield let his thoughts be known on that during an appearance on The Metallica Report recently.
Hetfield said the tattoo allowed him to pay respects to Kilmister “maybe in lieu of him being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which still continues to me off.”“The most rock and roll lifestyle-living person on this planet is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” he added, “which is a travesty. A shame. It’s kind of a disrespect to rock and roll, basically. So this is me paying homage to him.”“In my opinion, Lemmy Kilmister was the ultimate metal guy,” Osbourne said.
