The facelifted GLS and GLE will sport new grilles, starry lights, and an updated interior
Mercedes will unveil the facelifted GLE, GLE Coupe, and GLS next week. The models will have lightly revised styling and a modernized interior. We can expect updated powertrains and a new pillar-to-pillar display.
It’s been a busy month for Mercedes as the company has already unveiled the new VLE and S-Class Maybach. However, they’re not done as the luxury brand will introduce the facelifted GLE, GLE Coupe, and GLS on March 31. The automaker is keeping details under wraps, but spy photographers have snapped the updated models on numerous occasions. As a result, we know they’re getting a relatively modest makeover that includes an all-new front end with a redesigned bumper and a larger grille. They’ll be joined by starry headlights as subtlety has gone out the window. We can also expect an updated bumper as well as what appears to be a lightly revised liftgate with a trapezoidal accent around the license plate recess. Spy photographers have only gotten a few looks inside, but it looks like the crossovers will adopt a new pillar-to-pillar display. It’s not entirely clear which setup the models will have, but the shape of the screen appears to echo the one found in the GLC EV. Baldauf If that’s the case, the vehicles could come standard with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch infotainment system. Opting for the MBUX Superscreen would add a 14-inch front passenger display. However, bragging rights are reserved for the MBUX Hyperscreen, which features a nearly full-width 39.1-inch screen. Changes likely won’t stop there as we can expect a new dashboard, revamped switchgear, and an updated center console. There could also be a new steering wheel and a handful of technology updates including an AI-infused virtual assistant. Baldauf Under the hood, there will likely be an assortment of updated powertrains that deliver improved performance and better efficiency. We’ll learn full details in the coming days, but the 2027 GLS 580 could adopt the new twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that recently debuted in the facelifted S-Class. It produces 530 hp and 533 lb-ft of torque. The 450 variants could have an improved turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six developing 376 hp and 413 lb-ft . While the horsepower rating is virtually unchanged, the torque output would climb by 44 lb-ft . Baldauf
