Bila cerita Injil hari ini yang sederhana itu kita baca dengan baik, ternyata ada tiga reaksi yang sangat berbeza terhadap berita tentang kelahiran Yesus, yaitu dari tiga pihak ini: Raja Herodes, orang-orang majus, dan imam-imam kepala dan ahli-ahli Taurat.
Mereka ini ibaratnya menyerupai tanda-tanda atau petunjuk-petunjuk jalan, berfungsi menunjukkan jalan yang harus ditempuh tetapi hanya dengan tetap berdiri dan tidak bergerak!Dengan bahasa moden mereka itu termasuk orang-orang yang disebut “protagonis”, iaitu penyokong, pendorong dan pelaku utama terhadap hal-hal yang benar dan harus dilakukan. Mereka itu tidak mengajar dengan kata-kata, melainkan dengan perbuatan atau tindakan, bukan dengan mengatakan tetapi melakukan.
Apa ertinya ‘melalui jalan lain’? Ertinya, perubahan atau pergantian corak dan sifat hidup setiap orang, harus mengubah atau mengganti pula arah dan sifat jalan hidupnya juga!
