The Wayne Township school board has seven seats, four of which are on the ballot this year. Every incumbent candidate is running again and faces no challengers. All school board seats in Wayne Township are at-large seats.
Benjamin Wakefield is the current president of the Wayne Township school board and is a pastor at Lynhurst Baptist Church of Indianapolis. IndyStar reached out for additional comment.Michael Nance has been serving on the board for 28 years and is currently retired. He told IndyStar that he is running for reelection again because he wants to stay involved in the community and help his school community continue to grow and be successful.
Early voting has already begun and Indianapolis voters can early vote in person at the Indianapolis City-County building. Additional early voting sites open on Oct. 29. To find where the sites are located go to
