Harrisburg officials are ready to file charges against whoever caused tens of thousands of dollars of damage to a city park.
Mayor Wanda Williams said the park, located near 7th and Radnor streets, is now in need of repairs between $40,000 and $50,000.ors also vandalized the benches, ripped up parts of the rubber coating on the playground, and put food and trash all over the benches. “They had to climb over the fences to get into the park because we did have them locked,” Williams said, noting that the fence is 6 or 7 feet high. “And what I propose to do now is today we're putting additional locks on there and we're gonna look at putting cameras up within the next two weeks.”Williams said the city intends to file charges against the vandalizers, who left their initials on the sidewalk, once they’re identified. She asked that Harrisburg parents keep their kids out of the park until it’s finished around May 1 or May 2. “Don't vandalize something that's going to be good for you in the future," Williams said. "You know, we put all this money in, and we put almost millions and millions of dollars into this park, and we want to upgrade it for you and your kids so they have a place to play and be active during the day and not in their hair.”She continued: “So we're asking you please keep them out because if you don't, we're now going to put cameras there, and we are going to go against the parents who let their kids come in here.”A Harrisburg woman who accused restaurant employees of raping her is now charged with allegedly making false reports to law enforcement.A man reportedly lashed out at a Wendy's drive-thru sign after an issue with his food order, according to police.A Harrisburg man reportedly led officers on a high-speed chase on Monday afternoon in Lower Swatara Township.A Hanover man is facing second-degree murder and child abuse charges in the 2025 death of a 3-year-old child in Maryland. On March 26, the child was hospitalized
