Granite Hills running back Max Turner and Lincoln linebacker Eugene Rice have been honored as the top players in San Diego County high school football.
Max Turner of Granite Hills High School has been named the San Diego Union-Tribune's Football Player of the Year. Turner, a running back, led his team to a CIF San Diego Section Division 1 championship. He rushed for 2,034 yards and 32 touchdowns during the season, also catching 23 passes for 211 yards and four more touchdowns. \Eugene Rice of Lincoln High School was unanimously selected as the Defensive Player of the Year.
Rice, a linebacker, helped his team win the CIF San Diego Section Open Division championship and a State Division 1-AA title. He finished the season with 117 tackles, six tackles-for-loss and five sacks. Tyler Prasuhn of Carlsbad High School was named Kicker of the Year. Prasuhn made 36 of 41 PATs and 7 of 9 field goals this season
