State Sen. Matt Dolan, a Chagrin Falls Republican, said the U.S. should immediately accept up to 100,000 Ukrainian refugees as the war with Russia continues.

State Sen. Matt Dolan is a Chagrin Falls Republican who chairs the Senate Finance Committee.

“I think 100,000 to start off with to make sure the system we have in place to accept them is working, making sure we know who they are,” Dolan said. “Making sure that they do have, you know, if possible, a landing spot in the nation where they can become part of our society very quickly and be productive. So, I mean, yeah, I think 100,000 to start is probably a good number.”

He added that programs like the child tax credit also needed to be overhauled and have an added workforce requirement so that people only get the tax credit after they have a job. Dolan said he agreed with the idea of forming a plan as Scott did, but he had “no intentions” of raising individual or corporate taxes in Washington.

Generally, he supported providing federal funding to spur microchip and microprocessor manufacturing in the United States.
