The two restricted free agents played key roles in the Rams’ NFC title game victory over the San Francisco 49ers
The Rams announced linebacker Travin Howard agreed to stay with the team Saturday, signing a one-year, $2.54 million contract tendered to the restricted free agent.
With Rams kicker Matt Gay reaching the same agreement Thursday, the team is keeping both of the restricted free agents to whom it tendered contracts in March.Howard, 25, a seventh-round draft pick from TCU in 2018, started two games in the regular season and two in the playoffs, making the interception that sealed the NFC championship game win over the 49ers.
Howard looms as the Rams’ No. 3 inside linebacker, behind recently signed Bobby Wagner and second-year Ernest Jones.who signed with the ChargersGay, 28, signed during the 2020 season, earned his first Pro Bowl selection in 2021 and won the NFC title game with a 30-yard field goal with 1:46 to play.
