Two Windmill Park High learners, Emmanuel Nkuna and Kgothatso Kakayo performed well in their final matric exams, achieving five distinctions each.
Kakayo scored 80% in English, 81% in mathematics, 85% in life orientation, 84% in life sciences and 82% in physical science. Nkuna said he had expected to obtain distinctions because he had focused on his schoolwork throughout his matric year. “They went as far as setting up a study room for me, and I was exempt from house chores so that I could study.”“Teachers believed in me. They always encouraged me to be the best, and it propelled me to do well. I also wanted to make them proud.
“I was happy when he called and told me that he did well in accounting. At the beginning of the year, Emmanuel was sick and only started attending school in March, so you would expect that to dampen his spirit, but it didn’t.
